Your Spiritual Connection, Part 3

Blessing Others

c - Copy 2This is the final piece of my three-part presentation on developing and keeping our spiritual connection. As spiritual beings having a human experience, we should be mindful to care for this oh-so-important aspect of our beings.

“You reap what you sow.” How many times have we heard that? It refers to the law of karma. When we are expressing anger, angry events tend to happen. When we stay in a loving place, loving experiences are more likely to show up. In Part 2 of this series on developing more self-awareness around our actions and attitudes, I stated it’s important to be conscious regarding our thoughts.

This month’s recommendation to enhance your spiritual connection is:

Make it a practice to bless others!

We can create a wonderful stream of energy by blessing strangers, family, friends and coworkers. Every thought is a prayer of sorts, and I, personally, would rather be praying for the good of others.

Wikipedia says:    A blessing (also used to refer to bestowing of such) is the infusion of something with holiness, spiritual redemption, divine will, or one’s hope or approval.

Many years ago, I was a member of Unity Church in Houston and we were visited by the great, beloved, spiritual teacher, Eric Butterworth. He suggested that we try saying (silently) to each person we encountered, “I behold the Christ in you.” I found it to be powerful and often got smiles from strangers on the street when I remembered to think those words as I passed by. People may not be mind readers, but they can certainly “get it” at some level that you wish the best for them. I also believe that we keep a “carbon copy” in our minds of whatever we send out.

If the blessing mentioned doesn’t work for you, you can create your own blessing. Also, here are a few suggestions:

May the Lord (or Lady) bless and keep you.

Wishing for you all the love in the Universe.

May you prosper and live in peace.

I behold your beauty within.

May the Goddess hold you in Her Hands.

Have fun with this, folks. You will most likely be surprised to experience people’s response to your silently-uttered blessings. Please let me know how it works for you. Dr.Robin@CompassionateClearing.com

An old Irish blessing from me to you:

May love and laughter light your days
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all of life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours.

Love and many blessings to you,

Your Spiritual Connection, part 2

Develop More Self Awareness

Image result for self awarenessBeing spiritual means that one is attentive to things of the spirit and the soul where our true self resides. In this article, we will continue to explore various ways to cultivate a more powerful spiritual connection.

Truly, we are all connected to Spirit. Unfortunately, we often operate with an illusion of non-connection, and this feeling of estrangement allows us to behave in less than kind ways. It interferes with our feeling of peace and calm and belonging.

The world can be so intense – sometimes even overwhelming. I believe that the more we stay connected to Spirit, the more we will express ourselves in a deeply satisfying way. We will lessen our stress, and increase our capacity for love and compassion.

This month’s recommendation to aid your spiritual connection is to develop more self-awareness, which includes observing your emotions, attitudes and actions. These observations entail your becoming a detective. Without introspection, there is little hope for change. Without change, there cannot be a more powerful spiritual connection.

Ask yourself:

* Are you dwelling, possibly even obsessing, on the ways you feel wronged? (I went through that intensely with my divorce.)

* Do you complain about painful, seemingly unfair events without considering how you may have played a role in them?

* Do you believe that everything would be better for you if the world or others would just change?

Regrettably,
I have participated in all of those behaviors at one time or another.

How do you interact with others?

* Do you pay attention to how you speak to your partner, your children, your friends, and neighbors? Is it loving, kind and patient?

* Do you truly listen when others speak?

Keeping these questions, and possibly others in your mind can help you do regular course-corrections. These questions are not asked so you can beat yourself up. Being unkind to yourself is never the answer. Being aware when your own behavior is not in your best interest is important and allows for soul growth.

Good luck with your introspection and awareness as you work on your spiritual connection. Let me know if you’d like a session to assist with this. Dr.Robin@CompassionateClearing.com

Your Spiritual Connection, Part 1 (of 3)

Your Creativity

When I’m expressing my creativity, I’m happy. I believe that feeling happy opens the door for good things to flow into one’s life and to flow out to others. It is an important connection to Spirit.

Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love has this to say:

…it’s not always easy for people to find the time or the resources to work on their craft. … people (have) made their art out of stolen time, using salvaged materials…. people never have enough time or enough money for their creativity, but somehow … manage to keep creating…. People don’t make art because they’ve got all kinds of spare time for it… They make art because it brings their souls to life in a way that nothing else can match. That’s what I call Big Magic ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

If you feel stuck, denying yourself the pleasure to express your creativity in one form or another, it’s time to clear your path. We are born creative creatures. Ask yourself this:

* What is blocking my creativity?

If time is the issue, then look for places to have time. Do you watch TV? If it’s not benefitting you emotionally, intellectually or spiritually, then turn the dang thing off. If you must labor too hard after work, engage other household members to assist you, even if it means a sit-down where you refuse to cook dinner until you get help. Three nights with peanut butter sandwiches could get their attention. J Think creatively about making more time.

* How can I best move forward in a creative endeavor?

It doesn’t matter – just get started. Take a class at Michael’s. Shop for items to proceed. Or look around at projects you thought you would do, but have set the materials aside. Join a writer’s group. Just do it. I know you can. Then, please tell me about it!
