Poppet Making and Consecrating Class

What is a poppet, you might ask?

A poppet is a tool commonly used for transformation employing sympathetic magick – the concept that like creates like. Poppets can be used for healing, for love, for money, for banishing, to block a stalker or hanger on, to get a job – you name it, you can make a poppet for it. (They can also be used to cause harm, but I consider that bad karma.) It’s simply a matter of figuring out what your goal is, and the best way to achieve that goal. The only limits to poppet construction are your own imagination and creativity.

Many people thinking of a poppet automatically think of the voodoo doll. Voodoo is the most recent culture to use the poppet, but the use of sympathetic magic goes back thousands of years. For example, in 1100 BCE, the enemies of Pharoah Ramses III of Egypt, including the women of his harem and a treasure official, used wax images of him to bring about his death. (More about that in the class.)

Thursday evening, we will concentrate on history, ethical considerations, and how to make and use your poppet. You will choose your materials (provided). We will discuss how to construct an affirmation or chant.

Saturday, we will work together to achieve our goals and consecrate our poppets.

This is a 2-part class:
