More on Magic

FairyThe New Age crowd calls it manifesting. I call it magic. It’s the ability to create positive change in our lives and the lives of others.

If you are drawn to use magic, perhaps you want answers to the questions of the universe. You may desire the power to achieve your most important goals. You may want to live an enchanted life.

There are many ways to accomplish this, whether you are mildly curious or a serious seeker. As you begin, you will be stepping away from mass consciousness where citizens eat, sleep, go to work, consume and watch TV.  You will begin to see new possibilities in life.

First of all, it is important to define your goals. What do you want? I mean, exactly what do you want? Don’t say, “I want a relationship.” Say, “I want a relationship with a person who delights in travel. S/he values intellectual conversations. S/he delights in books or poetry or camping or laughing together….” You get the picture. It’s useful and powerful to write down specifics.

Then begin to focus on your heart’s desire. It is beneficial to sit in quiet meditation before working your magic. Take the time to ground or center yourself. Then, visualize what you desire.

“Effective spell work relies heavily upon focused intent and energy flow. Rhyme and symbols provide assistance in these areas. They help a practitioner focus on the intent of the work. This is important because nothing causes a spell to fall flat more than a wandering mind.”

                                           Everyday Magic – Dorothy Morrison

Words are some of the most powerful tools available for magic. By using them in a positive, affirming, repetitive way, we know that we can affect great change in our lives. Rhyming is frequently used in chants for those engaged in creating magic because rhyme has power in itself and provides more focus for the practitioner. Rhyming chants are the original form of positive affirmations. For example:

  • I am healing fast
  • The illness can’t last
  • This (malady) is in my past

If you feel challenged to create rhyming chants, you can likely find the right one on the internet.

Most important, we must commit to integrity when we call on magic. Magic used to manipulate others creates bad karma. It’s okay to do use magic to find a lover, but a love spell to make a specific person fall in love with you has consequences. Also any magic to harm another will jump back on you.

The subject of magic is massive. In my newsletter, I can only cover a small amount of information. If you are curious about this alternate reality, I encourage you to explore further.

“We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand.”

“But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put on the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to be grown up, for God’s sake. And you know why we were told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wildness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad of what they’d allowed to wither in themselves.”

– Robert McCammon, author
