Your Spiritual Connection, Part 1 (of 3)

Your Creativity

When I’m expressing my creativity, I’m happy. I believe that feeling happy opens the door for good things to flow into one’s life and to flow out to others. It is an important connection to Spirit.

Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love has this to say:

…it’s not always easy for people to find the time or the resources to work on their craft. … people (have) made their art out of stolen time, using salvaged materials…. people never have enough time or enough money for their creativity, but somehow … manage to keep creating…. People don’t make art because they’ve got all kinds of spare time for it… They make art because it brings their souls to life in a way that nothing else can match. That’s what I call Big Magic ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

If you feel stuck, denying yourself the pleasure to express your creativity in one form or another, it’s time to clear your path. We are born creative creatures. Ask yourself this:

* What is blocking my creativity?

If time is the issue, then look for places to have time. Do you watch TV? If it’s not benefiting you emotionally, intellectually or spiritually, then turn the dang thing off. If you must labor too hard after work, engage other household members to assist you, even if it means a sit-down where you refuse to cook dinner until you get help. Three nights with peanut butter sandwiches could get their attention.  Think creatively about making more time.

* How can I best move forward in a creative endeavor?

It doesn’t matter – just get started. Take a class at Michael’s. Shop for items to proceed. Or look around at projects you thought you would do, but have set the materials aside. Join a writer’s group. Just do it. I know you can. Then, please tell me about it!
